Thelma (Stimme im Original: Brittany Howard) ist ein Bauernhofpony, das davon träumt, ein Popstar zu werden. Über musikalisches Talent verfügt sie, doch wegen ihrer geringen Größe und ihrer Herkunft traut sie sich nicht, mehr aus sich zu machen. Als sie sich eines Tages aus Spaß mit einer Möhre auf der Stirn als Einhorn verkleidet und kurz darauf per Zufall von einem Eimer voller pinker Farbe überschüttet wird, wird jedoch alles anders: Eine Familie entdeckt Thelma, hält sie für ein echtes Einhor und sorgt per Social Media dafür, dass sie landesweit bekannt wird. Als sie dann auch noch einen Song schmettert, wird sie zum weltweiten Phänomen – sehr zum Leidwesen von Schwertwalkuh Nikki (Ally Dixon), dem bislang angesagtesten Superstar des Planeten, die sich nicht mit dem zweiten Platz zufrieden geben will.
