Nach „Mord im Orient-Express“ (2017) und „Tod auf dem Nil“ (2022) verfilmt der britische Regisseur Kenneth Branagh eine neue Geschichte von Agatha Christie. „A Haunting in Venice“ basiert auf dem Roman „Hallowe'en Party“ und sieht als Protagonisten den altbekannten Ermittler Hercule Poirot, den Branagh wieder selbst verkörpert. Poirot muss den Mord an einer Person untersuchen, die an der gleichen mystischen Séance wie er teilgenommen hat. Der Schauplatz ist dabei Venedig. Branagh nimmt sich inhaltliche Freiheiten gegenüber der literarischen Vorlage. Genaueres über das Drehbuch, das Michael Green („American Gods“) geschrieben hat, ist nicht bekannt. Dafür gibt es Informationen darüber, dass neben Branagh unter den Schauspielern und Schauspielerinnen Kyle Allen („West Side Story“), Camille Cottin („House of Gucci“), Jamie Dornan („Belfast“) und Michelle Yeoh („Everything Everywhere All At Once“) zu sehen sein werden. Als Produzenten hat Branagh wie bei den ersten zwei Filmen Ridley Scott an seiner Seite.
