Als Scott Langs (Paul Rudd) Tochter Cassie (Kathryn Newton) ein Gerät entwickelt, durch das eine Kommunikation mit dem Quantum-Reich möglich werden soll, ist das keine gute Idee. Und bald finden sich nicht nur Cassie, „Ant-Man“ Scott und seine Mitstreiterin „The Wasp“ Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) in dem mystischen Reich wieder. Gemeinsam mit Hopes Eltern Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) und Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) müssen sie einen Ausweg finden, doch bahnen sich erst einmal ihren Weg durch diese mysteriöse Welt, in welcher sie auf auf fremde Kreaturen und eine versteckte Zivilisation treffen. Dabei erfahren sie, dass viel mehr möglich ist, als sie jemals gedacht haben und auch Janet noch Geheimnisse aus ihren Jahrzehnten da unten hat. Und sie treffen auf einen so mysteriösen wie mächtigen Mann: Kang (Jonathan Majors)!
