Im Kenia-Urlaub lernt die Schweizerin Carola den Samburu-Krieger Lemalian kennen und folgt dem Fremden blindlings in die Savanne. Nachdem die Bürokratie überwunden, der Dorfchef geschmiert, ein Brautkleid importiert und im traditionellen Stammeszeremoniell geheiratet wurde, beginnt der Alltag in dem Dorf ohne Strom und Wasser. Als Carola, mittlerweile schwanger, einen Laden eröffnet, gibt es Zwist. Immer tiefer wird der Graben zwischen Carola und dem eifersüchtigen Ehemann. Bald ist jeder Tag eine neue Zerreißprobe.
