Rusty Parker, ein hübsches Revuemädchen aus Brooklyn, träumt davon einmal auf einer richtigen Broadway-Bühne tanzen zu dürfen. Der kleine Nachtclub, in dem sie arbeitet, gehört Danny McGuire, bei dem es sich auch um den Choreografen der Revue und um Rustys Verehrer handelt. Obwohl er überzeugt ist, dass Rusty einmal ein großer Showstar werden wird, hält er nichts davon, als sie an einem Schönheitswettbewerb teilnimmt, um auf das Cover einer Zeitschrift zu gelangen und damit ihre Karriere voranzubringen.
