Die kalifornische Band Acid King lässt ihren Stoner Doom auf der Valley Stage des Hellfests erdröhnen. Das Trio schlägt die Festivalbesucher mit Songs aus seinem 2023 veröffentlichten Album Beyond Vision in seinen Bann.
Die Band Acid King aus San Francisco ist seit 1993 aktiv, was bedeutet, dass Lori S. (Gitarre, Vocals) schon seit über dreißig Jahren Stoner-Rock in die Welt trägt – seit 2021 in Begleitung von Mark Lamb (Bass) und Jason Willer (Schlagzeug).
Die Musik von Acid King als episch zu bezeichnen, ist alles andere als übertrieben, denn die Songs der drei Musiker*innen mit ihrer Mischung aus Stoner, Acid Rock, Doom Metal und Psychedelic Rock haben etwas von Filmmusik. Acid King zu hören ist wie ein Marsch durch die Wüste unter der sengenden Sonne Kaliforniens – nichts außer verzerrten Sounds, Riffs und Stimmen aus dem Jenseits. Das Ganze macht schwindelig, raubt einem den Atem und beschwört verstörende Trugbilder herauf.
Zwischen 1995 und 2023 haben Acid King sieben Alben und zwei Eps veröffentlicht. Auf dem Hellfest 2024 stellen Lori S. und ihre Mannen die siebte Longplay, Beyond Vision, vor. Ein psychedelischer Trip wie aus dem Bilderbuch.

The band Acid King from San Francisco has been active since 1993, which means that Lori S. (guitar, vocals) has been bringing stoner rock to the world for over thirty years - since 2021 accompanied by Mark Lamb (bass) and Jason Willer (Drums).
To describe Acid King's music as epic is anything but an exaggeration, because the songs of the three musicians, with their mixture of stoner, acid rock, doom metal and psychedelic rock, have something like film music. Listening to Acid King is like marching through the desert under the scorching California sun - nothing but distorted sounds, riffs and voices from beyond the grave. The whole thing makes you dizzy, takes your breath away and conjures up disturbing illusions.
Between 1995 and 2023, Acid King have released seven albums and two EPs. At Hellfest 2024, Lori S. and her men will present the seventh long play, Beyond Vision. A psychedelic trip straight out of a picture book.
