Es gibt ihn, den perfekten Mord. Ohne Spur oder Hinweise auf den oder die Täter ausgeführt wird er mit einem übermächtigen Gefühl der physischen und psychischen Überlegenheit und Macht belohnt. So verstehen die beiden Studenten Brandon Shaw und Phillip Morgan jedenfalls die Vorlesung ihres Professors Rupert Cadell über die “Kunst des Mordes”. Von Neugierde über das Gehörte angespornt, beschließen die beiden einen Kommilitonen, den jungen David zu töten und die Leiche in einer Truhe in dem gemeinsamen Apartment zu verstauen. Nach der Tat und mit der Leiche im Wohnzimmer, wollen die Mörder ihren Triumph auskosten und laden Freunde, Mitstudenten und auch Professor Cadell zu einer Party ein. Als Brandon vehement die Machtposition eines Mörders analysiert und Philip zunehmend nervöser wird, schöpft Cadell langsam Verdacht…
