Ein 8-Millimeter-Pornofilm zeigt die Ermordung eines jungen Mädchens. Mrs. Christian, die das Video im Nachlaß ihres Mannes gefunden hat, beauftragt den Privatdetektiv Tom Welles, herauszufinden, ob die Szene gestellt oder real ist. Welles läßt sich von dem Sexshop-Verkäufer Max in die Hardcore-Szene von L.A. einführen, doch die Recherche verläuft ergebnislos. Eher durch Zufall kommt er dem Porno-Produzenten Eddie Poole auf die Spur, in dessen Filmen ein Darsteller mitwirkt, der auch in dem gesuchten Video zu sehen ist...
