Nachdem die Fortsetzung von "Dungeons & Dragons" es bereits in den USA nicht in die Kinos schaffte, ereilte den Film auch hierzulande das Direct-to-DVD-Schicksal. Die Macher ahnten das wohl und drehten den Film mit niedrigem Budget im neuen Hollywood-Sparmekka Osteuropa, in diesem Falle Litauen. Dies und die allgemein bescheidene Qualität von Skript, Ausstattung und Regie sorgten dafür, dass die bekannten Gesichter des ersten Films (u.a. Jeremy Irons und Thora Birch) fehlen. Fans des Spiels werden trotzdem zuschlagen.
