Eigentlich ist Mariel Bademeister an der Copacabana - schon 47 Leuten hat er dabei das Leben gerettet. Dummerweise war Nr. 47 ein alter Mann, der sich komplett bekleidet das Leben nehmen wollte und nun damit hadert, gerettet worden zu sein, weshalb er Mariel das Versprechen abnimt, sich um seine Tochter, eine Prostituierte, zu kümmern. Daneben jobbt Mariel auch noch als Rausschmeisser, denn ständig Leben retten füllt einen ja nicht aus. Als er dabei eines Abends drei Typen vermöbelt, wird die Polizei auf ihn aufmerksam, die hätte ihn nämlich gerne als Kollegen.

Mariel is a lifeguard concerned with the welfare of people. One day
he rescues a suicide at sea and falls in love with his daughter,
Margarida Maria, a drug addicted prostitute. The enormous violence
Rio de Janeiro goes through and influences Mariels decision to be a
policeman. He gets featured and is called to be security of
politicians. Carioca violence is on the rise and Delegate Goulart
creates the death squad, of which he becomes the leader, to
exterminate members of organized crime. Lucio Flavio is a criminal
who draws the attention of the media for the large number of murders
attributed to him. To Mariels surprise, Deputy Goulart is also part
of the gang. Even so, he is not intimidated, kills the leader of the
gang and continue chasing Lucius Flavius. The death squad declares
war on the gang of stolen cars. As a result of his investigations,
Mariel becomes dangerous to the police. He is arrested but manages
to escape. He starts to live in hiding. Margarida Maria is admitted
to a hospice and dies of cocaine overdose. Mariel is again arrested
but continues to threaten Lucio Flavio, also detained by police.
Both are in different prisons. The war continues between the
prisons.
