Durch den Unfall einer Opern-Diva bekommt die junge Nachwuchssängerin Betty die Chance, in Verdis "Macbeth" die Hauptrolle zu übernehmen. Nach ihrem großen Erfolg wird sie jedoch von einem Unbekannten verfolgt, der sie fesselt und zuzusehen zwingt, wie er Freunde und Bekannte vor ihren Augen ermordet. Während einer Aufführung läßt der Regisseur des Stücks einen Schwarm Raben frei, die den Killer wiedererkennen und angreifen. Bei einem Feuer kommt er allem Anschein nach ums Leben, verfolgt in Wirklichkeit aber Betty bis zu einer einsamen Berghütte, wo sie sich von den Schrecken erholen wollte.
